This dress was worn exclusively by both the peasant and free class women during the 12th and the 13th centuries. It's made from a poly/cotton blend that's both durable and east to care for. Although the cut is straight down to the waist, it flares at the bottom to allow freedom of movement for horseback riding. Includes a girdle of the same fabric that is tightened to provide emphasis to the waist (the tie provided with the girdle is black, not the red shown in the picture). Our sleeves have elastic that give the impression of smocking.
Small (6-8), Med. (10-12), Lg. (14-16) or X/Large (18-20). Sizes run 1 - 2 sizes large. e.g. If your normal dress size is a 10, you would probably order a Small (6-8).
SOH NOTES: The dress does run large, as the description notes above, so expect it to be generously cut. To help you decide which size to order, we have decided to use the size of the girdle as a guide, instead of using the traditional sizing.
We measured the girdle from loop to loop, so if your waist is 30", the loops will touch each other in the front and possibly overlap a little bit.
To measure your waist, use a soft tape measure and measure your "natural waist" which is 1" above the belly button.
30 in. girdle will fit waist sizes 30" - 32"
33 in. girdle will fit waist sizes 33" - 35"
36 in. girdle will fit waist sizes 36" - 38"
39 in. girdle will fit waist sizes 39" and up
